First of all, what are affirmations.... they are positive statements that can help you challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. They are used to encourage us to believe positive things about ourselves.
As someone who tends to think negative thoughts, affirmations has really helped me in my self-love journey throughout the years. As soon as a negative thought pops into my head I repeat this affirmation: I love and approve of myself!
Something so simple as that one affirmation can change one moment in your life, a whole day, or year for you!
I repeat affirmations to myself when I first wake up, before an important panel or event, and just pretty much any moment in my life where I don't feel my best. This has helped me turn that moment or day in my life around to a better one.
Affirmations aren't the end all be all of self-love, but it's a great start and something I highly suggest for people who don't know where to start on their self-love journey.
So my self-love exercise for you this week is to come up with your own affirmations before the end of the new year. Let's start now and not wait until 2020 to make small changes that will help us make big changes in our life.
